Schmidt Maschinenbau GmbH’s roots go back 90 years, to a village forge that grew into today’s wire drawing company. Our first fine wire drawing machines, which could already draw wire down to 20 µm, were developed in the 1930s for the local wire industry. By the 1980s, our range of fine wire drawing machines and winding machines, primarily for copper and resistance wire, was expanded to include wet drawing machines for steel wire. A milestone in our company’s development came in the 1990s with the construction of a fully automatic bobbin changer. This machine allowed our customers to achieve the highest possible productivity and since it’s introduction, has been continuously reengineeredto furtheroptimise its performance.
The ability to develop customer specific machines and processes, often requiring technological advances, has always been a key competence of Schmidt Maschinenbau and is one of the reasons for our leading position in the wire industry. We cover the entire project process from the initial consultation with the customer, through design, production and assembly, to after-sales service.
Precision and creative solutions are our guiding principles to this day. In close partnership with the wire industry, we use the most modern technologies to optimize efficiency and quality in wire drawing and processing.
